This Research Scientist will be responsible for developing novel, low-noise, high-speed UV image sensors and the associated analog front end electronics. These sensors will be used in multiple KLA-Tencor wafer inspection systems to detect patterning defects and nanometer-sized particles on semiconductor wafers. In order to allow our customers to meet the challenges of Moore’s law, KLA-Tencor needs to constantly develop new sensors with higher speed and improved sensitivity.

Responsibilities include:

Proposing and developing new sensor designs

Simulating image sensor performance

Characterizing test devices and sensors
Designing and running experiments and analyzing and evaluating the data

Developing test boards and low noise analog circuits

This is a Strategic Product Marketing role in KLA-Tencor's film and scatterometry division, one of the core groups of KLA-Tencor's metrology business. The film and scatterometry division, conceives, develops manufactures and markets film and optical CD metrology equipment for the front end semiconductor manufacturing process counting all major semiconductor manufacturers amongst its key customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining new products within the product lifecycle process including defining requirements, deciding the technology required, setting priorities for the development team, selecting and working with test partners and managing product launches. In particular this position relates to Strong leadership across differing functional groups and effective communication with executive management will be key elements to success in this role.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the semiconductor manufacturing process and the importance of metrology tools and techniques in improving process control and will likely have worked in a wafer fab environment. More recently the candidate will have direct product marketing experience, probably working for a semi equipment company or other high tech operation.

Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline.
5-10 years experience in semiconductor industry, direct wafer fab experience is considered an advantage
