Job Description:
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a senior scientist/engineer with a focus in the area of systems and optical engineering.  The candidate will be working in a hardware R&D group that is developing the next generation optical CD and film measurement hardware for the semiconductor industry.  The Individual will be required to participate in optical design assessments, sensitivity analyses, modeling and simulation of optical systems including diffraction, spot size, and validation of hardware designs and troubleshooting, analysis of results and develop methods and techniques to improve the performance of the hardware to meet customer requirements.   The job responsibilities will include both experimental and analytical/modeling activities.  The candidate may be required to travel to customer sites occasionally to support Beta tools or to address specific issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidate should have doctoral degree in physics/applied sciences/ materials sciences with at least 5-10 years of experience.  Experience in the semiconductor industry and in other film/CD measurements would be a plus.  Candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills.  Candidates should be familiar with analytical tools such as Matlab, Mathematica.  Prior knowledge of Zemax or other optical design programs would be considered a plus.  Prior experience in polarization measuring instruments, reflectometers, ellipsometers, interferometers etc would be considered a definite plus.

Job Description:
The senior level mechanical engineer position is responsible for development of the next generation metrology tool as well as continuing improvement (CIP) of the current tools. The candidate will be responsible for key mechanical engineering tasks, from requirement specification, top level mechanical analysis, conceptual and detail design, prototype integration, testing and handoff to manufacturing. The detail design activities include system-level layout, opto-mechanical design, precision mechanism design and alignment tooling design, using Pro/E as the design tool.

The candidate must participate in the design process in cross-discipline teams including System Engineers, Optics Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering and other groups within K-T worldwide organization. He/she needs to exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and Perform analysis as needed to verify new designs. The candidate is also expected to champion his/her designs throughout the release process and generate all required engineering documentation until they are fully released to manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:
1.Require BSME or MSME (preferred) with at least 8+ years of concentration in mechanical design and engineering.
2.Must have experience in opto-mechanical design, and/or precision mechanism design.
3.Must have good understand in physics and mechanics. The candidate must be able to generate system-level concept with all-around consideration and perform high-level mechanical design, testing and troubleshooting.
4.Familiar with mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding and castings.
5.Good communication and team working skills are required.
6.Experience in structure/vibration analysis, thermal analysis is desirable.
7.Must be proficient in 3D solid modeling CAD. Strongly prefer ProEngineer/Wildfire

Responsibilities:
This position will lead the hardware engineering team in the development and release of our next generation wafer inspection tool.  The selected engineer will have dotted line responsibility for 30-40 engineers.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Ensure;

The candidate is expected to lead the systems engineering team.

As the principal systems design engineer, you will be actively engaged in system-level engineering of our next generation high-speed patterned wafer inspection tools.  Some of the activities include:

1.Model system operation and define subsystem performance specifications
2.Develop subsystem architectures and collaborate with mechanical, optical, electrical and software engineers to realize these subsystems.
3.Integrate and test subsystems and validate system performance
4.Specify and test new or improved hardware components and software features.
5.Identify and resolve problems and recommend improvements relating to system optics, electronics, software, and mechanics.
6.Develop and improve diagnostic and calibration procedures.
7.Investigate abnormal system behaviors by performing experiments and analyzing system data.
8.Support manufacturing and field personnel with troubleshooting help in the form of plans of action or hands-on assistance.
9.Conducts feasibility studies on engineering proposals and related technical data for new equipment or modification to existing equipment.

Preferred Experience:
1.The candidate should have a knowledge of optics, electronics, software, and/or mechanical systems.  Programming skills/experience are a definitely plus.  2.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and to take on a leadership role when needed is desired. 
3.The candidate should have a quick grasp of challenging, complex technical information and be able to travel both domestically and internationally.

Candidate should preferably have experience in the semiconductor fabrication industry, or equivalent experience and education.   Background in advanced optical systems is an asset.
